In your opinion what are the most critical things in life that bring happiness? I believe it’s loving each other BUT what about our dreams? Again I feel our dreams are fulfilled by thinking things through clearly, knowing your subject, making wise choices and a determined plan. I know from experience that you have to take action to fulfil dreams.

This week I read about eighteen year old Isabella Teh in an article by Toni Somes for the Toowoomba Chronicle. Not only was this article wonderful for the Arabian breed due to it making people aware of the resurgence of Arabian Racing in Australia but it proves age is no barrier when it comes to fulfilling dreams.

Isabella is the youngest person in Australia to hold an Arabian Trainers Racing Licence and at the tender age of eighteen already knows that life is about what we learn and what we learn to do. She is determined to make a career on the racetrack. The latest figures from the Australian Jockeys’ Association shows 25% of jockeys and 48% of apprentices are female. Although Isabella isn’t competing in Thoroughbred circles, this determined and talented young woman is an inspiration to all as her triumphs include a second in her first ride at the Gold Coast in December, fourth at Caulfield in January, before being included in the winners circle at the first country Arabian race held in Warwick.

I was so excited when I read Bella and her mother plan to develop their Arabian breeding operation. Already their Beersheva Stud has imported Australia’s first French Arabian racing stallion.

Bella says: “My dream is to breed train and then ride Arabian race winners.”

There’s such a fabulous message here for all of us. No matter what your age and what you want to do, think about your dreams all the time, decide to see, touch, smell and finally achieve them. Like Isabella you can make your dreams real, just start now.
