HAPPY NATIONAL BOOKSHOP DAY …

Australia’s only celebration of bookshops takes place on Saturday the 10th of August with bookshops around the country giving away over 25,000 free books, hosting events, readings, with a wide range of other activities. Selected bookshops along with their publishing partners will celebrate and thank their customers by giving away over 25,000 non-fiction, fiction and children’s books from local and international authors.

Why Do We Read Books?

Human beings are curious and books not only entertain but they teach us about the things we love, fire our imaginations, sometime scare us and very often even take us on a journey of discovery. Books educate and give us insights into how to be successful in life.
Books are better than movies the books you read are often larger than life in your mind, a feast for the senses.  If you’re ever stuck for something to talk about the latest best-seller always gets the conversation going!

Did you know that apparently books are listed as the second most selling item today!

What about that amazing feeling you have when you are reading a book that you just CANNOT put down. You might be stuck trying  to solve a mystery or become panicked at a foiled escape attempt.  Whatever the reason you read books, we all know how much we rely on our bookshops.

LONG LIVE THE BOOK SHOP!
I for one would be lost without you.

It is great to know that there is an National Bookshop Day ( after all there is a day for just about everything else). It is good for us to be aware of just how important a part books of all sorts play in our individual lives.
Good work Carmel for bringing this to our attention! 🙂

You’re so right Anita there is a day for everything these days;-) so why not National Bookshop Day. I know how much I adore my visits to bookshops, going through the familiar ritual of picking up and putting back interesting books, reading excerpts, back cover blurbs, and getting excited when there’s a new horse book on the shelf. Buying online is certainly convenient but I’m hoping the experience of visiting a book shop will always be there for the future generations. Thanks so much Anita for your comment, lovely to have you here. x
