The small successes in our lives.
Last weekend the huge success of the Lockyer Equine Expo and Welcome show got me thinking about the importance of success in our lives. The weekend was fabulous, and when you think about it, there were dozens and dozens of people who made the event successful. The number of small businesses, the horse exhibitors and the friendly helpers all worked together to create the atmosphere and make the day an astounding success.
When it comes to fulfilling our dreams each success is really important, whether large or small, success in what we do is essential to keep us happy. The challenges of life and the success of our goals gives our self-esteem the healthy boost needed to continue and take on the next challenge.
Often we set goals that are quite ambitious or long-reaching, and when we succeed in them we should rightly feel very proud, but it’s the small successes that define who we are in our everyday life. You might get all the way through a piece on the piano, or finally make the perfect soufflé, ride the horse you’ve been breaking in, finish reading a book you’ve had sitting on your bedside table for six months, start writing a story you’d been thinking about writing. Each one of these small successes define us and sometimes assist us to make sense of our lives.
I love the idea and believe it’s important to celebrate all the successes in our life, big and small. Give ourselves a pat on the back and move on to the next goal. But it’s the achievement of these “little” successes that can give you the motivation to move forward and do more. Every achievement is something to be grateful for.
Maybe to others some events seem minor but I know personally my small successes have always made me feel as if I’m getting somewhere and that in turn encourages me to forge ahead.
Embrace the small successes in your life today.
