Lockyer Horse Expo & Exclusively Equine Welcome Show
Carmel at her stall (wearing Willa Frayser’s Pendant;-)
This weekend I had the very real pleasure of attending the first Lockyer Horse Expo & Exclusively Equine Welcome Show at the Gatton Show grounds. (Make sure you read all about it on Facebook and like the page) What a great success story.
Trade Displays & Lindall Arabians and Moondarra Arabians Stand
I must say a HUGE Congratulations to the marvellous Leanne Owens and her wonderful group of assistants who made the event possible. More thanks to Leanne for continually promoting everyone over in the Trade Display area, including myself, throughout the event. This group of people could organise anything!
Cute competitors …
I heard over 150 horses were in attendance and classes had to be split into three and four because of 30 and 40 horses competing in them. it was very obvious that the Judges and Stewards worked incredibly hard all day long to keep the show running and I say another well done to all the helpers who came from other areas of the horse industry to make the weekend work.
As always, you meet the most fascinating people at any horse event and I had the pleasure of making some new acquaintances like Lois Hulst-Cairns who is the new horse property specialist for Henzells Rural in Toowoomba. She has an interesting story that I must blog at a later date.

It was fun to catch up with Kym Dyball, daughter Elly and family. Kym sent the family over for a copy of Voices in the Wind. Kym breeds Arabian horses at her stud, Centreline Arabians. Also I was so thrilled to catch up with Lyn Hall from Lindall Arabians and Deb Watson from Moondarra Arabians. www.moondarraarabians.com They had the most wonderful stall showcasing their gorgeous horses and the Arabian breed.

They say you should learn something new each day and this weekend end I learnt a little about the Akhal Teke breed from Denise Kaye and Bill Miller whose Die Kinder Stud breeds both Arabian horses and Akhal Teke’s.
SEE -YA NEXT YEAR? HOPE SO;-)
I truly hope this event will be back next year. I’ve never seen so many people of ALL ages having so much fun. The T-Shirt and jean class was fantastic and the beginner walk – trot classes adorable. An event that truly was for anyone who owns a horse.
