This week has been so much fun beginning with some fabulous feedback from the children reading ‘Danika and Yatimah from Egypt to the Outback’.
Being school holidays, yesterday I had visitors Mark Rodes and his daughter Emma come for a visit to see the horses who help inspire my writing. Emma gladly posed with our stallion Salaa Sihr and a copy of Danika and Yatimah.
Thank you so much girls. I’m so thrilled you’ve enjoyed my favourite little book… Carmel
From nine year old Alina Rose in the USA:
“I finished reading Danika and Yatimah last month. It’s very good, and it was a lot of fun to read. I liked all the parts where Danika rides the horse. They actually seemed like best friends.”
And back here in Australia twelve year old Emily Follett from Warwick, Queensland said:
Hi Carmel, I really enjoyed reading Danika and Yatimah – particularly because it was about Arabians, which are my favourite horse breed. My favourite part of the book was when Danika and Yatimah saved Jodie from the fire. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! Now I really, really, really want an Arabian horse (but unfortunately my parents say no!).
I love visiting Dale and Leesa (Cearadale Arabians) to see their Arabians. At school we recently had to do a photography project. We were asked to choose a topic we loved, take photos, write about them and compile a portfolio. I chose horses (surprise, surprise!). Dale and Leesa let me take photos of their Arabians and they featured prominently in my portfolio.
Thanks for writing such a great book. I love reading stories about horses – please keep writing!
