There’s a TV movie titled ‘Mystery Woman’ about a woman who inherits a bookstore. She is an avid murder-mystery fan who uses her extensive knowledge of murder-mystery books to assist her in her amateur sleuthing.
The reason I mention this movie is because of the bookstore itself. The ‘Mystery Woman book store’ is my perfect bookstore and if I was to ever own a bookstore I would love it to be just like the one in this movie.
I know we live in a time where the internet book trade is very competitive and that customers have a choice of a wide range of local and overseas suppliers and there is much debate about how bookstores will survive. But personally I cannot imagine life without walk in bookstores and I know large numbers of people think as I do.
This week I received an email from ‘THE REALLY GOOD BOOKSTORE’ at Browns Plains in Queensland. Apparently a customer came into the store asking about my ‘WIND’ series. Imagine how excited I was knowing the word is still filtering down through the masses about my ‘Daughters of the Wind’ series.
Today I wanted to thank Wendy and husband Peter from ‘THE REALLY GOOD BOOKSTORE’ for stocking all three of my books. ‘Tails Carried High’ & ‘Voices in the Wind’, book 1 and 2 of my ‘Daughters in the Wind’ series. Plus my childrens book, ‘Danika and Yatimah from Egypt to the Outback’
For your information: ‘THE REALLY GOOD BOOKSTORE’ is a family owned and run book shop on the southern outskirts of Brisbane. Peter and Wendy Reilly with help from 3 daughters sell new and used titles. It was obvious talking to Wendy how much they LOVE books. You can find approximately 100.000 books in the store (can you imagine that number of books – it’s book heaven!) They specialise in special orders and after my phone call to Wendy I know you will thoroughly enjoy a visit.
