Saturday 9th April 2011 goes down as a milestone in the world of the Arabian horse in Australia, with the running of the inaugural
‘Shadwell Arabian Mile’ at Caulfield Racecourse
The winner was Franshar Park K Shar (Shah Wazir x Ulinga Kaita), a 14yo Gelding.
Many thanks to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his incredibly generous purse of $20,000 and for making this event possible.
By all reports the race was a fantastic promotion for the purebred Arabian, and in spite of one or two mistakes a great success. The organisers are planning on making it an annual event.

Kathy, Sorry for the late reply I have not read anything to indicate there is and Arabian racing website for Australia. However I have just gone back to my first blog post about the race and found the particulars below… I hope this helps, let me know how you go.
The April 9 Shadwell Arabian Mile will be a comeback for Arabian racing in Australia. The National Arabian Racehorse Association (NARA) is confident that it will be the first of regular races to be run in all States.
Enquiries regarding race nominations should be directed to NARA (03)5429 6985 or email naraaustralia@hotkey.net.au
Kind regards Carmel
